Did you know that a teacher is likely to have a deaf or hard of hearing student in his/her class once every 7 years?  If you teach for 30 years, that means you will cross paths with 3-5 students during your career. In Episode 6, I interview Julie Stewart. The first thing you need to know is:  Julie is deaf and communicates with ASL.  This episode was interpreted by Dr. Shannon Clancy. Julie and I were not only colleagues at The Ohio School for the Deaf, but also, I was one of her daughter’s teachers! I catch up with Julie and ask her to give teachers tips on how to best serve kids who are deaf or hard of hearing in the general education setting. This episode is in loving memory of Tyana Hamilton.
